CHALLENGE 3-2-1”(3 days, 2 idiots, 1goal)

Paul Griffin race number 11433 and Pat Giles race number 5989 will undertake a 3 day challenge over the marathon weekend. Their challenge will begin on Sunday 29th October at 8.30am where they will cycle from Waterford Regional Hospital to Dublin. They will rest overnight before running in the adidas Dublin Marathon, take another overnight rest and get back on the bikes to cycle from Our Ladys Children’s Hospital in Crumlin back home to Waterford. In total they will cover approx. 246 miles in 3 days. They call their challenge “CHALLENGE 3-2-1”(3 days, 2 idiots, 1goal).

The CHALLENGE is taking place to raise funds for the Neo Natal Unit in Waterford Regional Hospital and the Cardiac ICU in Our Lady's in Crumlin. Paul’s 2 children were in need of specialist care in these hospitals when they were born so the CHALLENGE has personal motivation and both he and his wife have organised the event. Their first son Adam was born 8 weeks premature and spent in excess of 6 weeks in the Neo Natal Unit of WRH while their 2nd son Luke was born full term but with major heart problems. THere wasn't much hope given for Luke's survival but having spent a month in Crumlin and undergoing 2 major lifesaving operations, he is now fighting fit.

They are hoping to raise €10,000 to divide equally between the two hospitals. A bank account has been set up with the Permanent TSB specifically for the event and donations and lodgements to it are very welcome. The a/c number is 89258007 and sort code is 99-06-47.
