Boit back to bid for 10 mile title as Elites are announced for Park Run
Josphat Boit will join record numbers in the park for Saturday’s Lifestyle Sports - adidas Frank Duffy 10 mile race, hoping that he can emulate his recent 5 mile success. The Kenyan, who is the reigning 10 mile champion, will be bidding for back to back titles having won last year’s race in 49.20
Boit is one of a number of elite runners who will take to Phoenix Park on Saturday for the second race in the Lifestyle Sports – adidas race series.
The men’s field, as ever, will be a tooth and nail affair as Gerry Ryan and Brian Maher, who came in second and third place respectively in last month’s 5 mile race, will also be in competition for the men’s title. Peter Matthews, Serguie Cibanu, Colm Burke and Sergio Turea will also add fuel to the fire in the race for the finish.
Dundrum South Dublin AC’s Maria McCambridge will, like her male running counterpart Boit, be making a bid for back to back titles. McCambridge had been due to compete in the World Track and Field Championships in Berlin on Saturday but pulled out due to a recent injury, she has instead focused her efforts on defending her 10 mile title. The Donegal based athlete took last year’s women’s title in 58.16 and continued her good run of form in October when she competed in her first ever Dublin Marathon, claiming first Irish woman home.
Organisers would like to remind participants that there will be no late entry for the race as the limit (6,000) has been reached and entry is now CLOSED.
The Lifestyle Sports - adidas Frank Duffy 10 mile race will start at approximately 10am.
