Cheerers Wanted!!

Family and friends turned up in force this morning to support the runners taking part in the Breakfast Run in advance of tomorrows 30th anniversary running of the Dublin Marathon.

And after the short race, runners admitted just how important that support is on the day, and are hoping that a huge crowd get out tomorrow to help them along the route.

The cheers and support are crucial to keep people going, and to encourage them when the going gets tough out there said Race Director Jim Aughney

We had great support from the people of Dublin last year, so we hope to see even more people out there this year, its that kind of support that makes people want to come back to run Dublin year after year, so we really rely on the people of Dublin to make this a special occasion for our runners.

There are Spar Cheering Zones set up in key points along the route, while the final miles from the canal in towards the finish on Merrion Square are also expected to be packed.
