National Lottery Frank Duffy 10 mile Boasts Strongest Ever Elite Field
National Lottery Dublin Marathon Race Ambassador Kathryn Thomas Takes Part
Following on from the success of last month’s National Lottery Irish Runner 5 mile race, the next feature race in the Dublin Marathon series - The National Lottery Frank Duffy 10 mile - has attracted an impressive field of over 6,800 runners. In addition to the record number of runners expected, the second race in this three part race series will also boast the strongest ever field of Elite athletes in the series’ history.
A number of international runners will also take to the start line of the National Lottery Frank Duffy 10 mile this Saturday (20 August 2011). One such international runner will be last year’s winner Andy Douglas of Inverclyde AC. Douglas will have to contend with stiff competition, most notably from Spanish runner José Carlos Hernández and Marathon Mission’s Andrew Ledwith.
Defending her 10 mile title, Maria McCambridge makes her return to competitive running just 11 weeks after having a baby. Caitriona Jennings, who took second place behind McCambridge last year, will also compete for the women’s title this Saturday.
With the Dublin Athletic Boards 10 Mile Road Championship incorporated within the National Lottery Frank Duffy 10 Mile Race, there will be great competition for places at the front of the field on Saturday.
To avoid congestion entering the Phoenix Park, organisers are encouraging entrants to the National Lottery Frank Duffy 10 Mile to avail of the free shuttle bus service which operates from Parkgate Street from 8.30-9.30am, returning after the race. There will also be road closures in place from early morning in the park, so entrants are advised to allow additional time to get there ahead of the race start at 10am (sharp).
