
New course record set at the 32nd National Lottery Dublin Marathon
Record entries and a new course record - it was quite a day at the 32nd annual National Lottery Dublin Marathon.
Geoffrey Ndungu of Kenya put in a simply superb performance setting a new course record with a time of 2.08.33, some 25 seconds faster than the previous record set by Moses Kangogo Kibet last year.
The first woman to cross the finish line was Johannes Helalia of Namibia in 2.30.25
Sean Connolly (Tallaght) staved off the challenge of last years winner of the Irish men’s race Sergiu Ciobanu (Clonliffe Harriers) to claim the National Championship Title with a time of 2.18.52. The Women’s National Title was claimed by Linda Byrne (DSD) who ran an incredible Olympic qualifying time of 2.36.21
Wheelchair athlete Paul Hannon (Armagh) won his second consecutive National Lottery Dublin Marathon with a time of 2.13.58.
